Do You Know What The Best Translation Is?
This was an answer I was eager to have before I learned Greek, and everyone has an opinion.
The hard truth is that no translation can capture the original language fully, which means every translation compromises.
It might compromise on the nuance of the Greek word, or try to make the translation easy to read, but they all have to make compromises for the reader.
The thing that convicted me to go past just a translation and to commit to learning Greek was that I could never know what the compromises were in a translation without knowing the original language...
...So I'd never be confident about the meaning of scripture!
Now, whatever translation you use, you're missing out on the richness of the original writings.
What you see instead is a more generic, ambiguous translation of the passage...
Because it's simply impossible to get the whole meaning of the text across — The English is just too different to Greek!

You might think that a good commentary will help. And certainly they do...
...But even the commentaries have different views!
That leaves you stuck, because without knowledge of Greek, you can't even evaluate their arguments!

What Are You Missing If You Keep Using A Translation In 2026?
You miss the opportunity to step into the culture and worldview of the authors and original recipients of Biblical Scripture.
Translations get the words across as best they can, but our culture is radically different to the Greco-Roman world.
Translations mask the depth of these differences...
...For example, did you know that the terms translated as grace and faith have roots in the social structure of the Greco-Roman world?
These weren't new words coined by Christians, they were understood by everyone, which is why they were so useful.
So words lose their meaning, but what about the masterful way that phrases were originally constructed in Greek?
Your translation often obscures emphasis and patterns only understandable in Greek — Greek sentences can flex their structure in a way impossible to replicate in English.
As a result, in English we often get the emphasis wrong!
To use a common example, "But God..." (Eph 2:4) is not a strong emphatic contrast as English readers often assume, it is merely a 'developmental marker.'
When we don't understand the language of the Biblical authors, we risk missing the meaning they intended their text to have — Or adding our own in!

But we provide cohorts and other opportunities to join other members and instructors on zoom calls to learn together, ask questions, and get help. As a member, you get all the replays for every call we run, so you can watch them on your own later. You can even switch between self-study and cohorts whenever you want.
Do You Charge Anything Besides The Monthly Fee?
No, we do not charge any additional costs, nor do we charge per course. You access everything in the membership with your monthly plan. Take courses multiple times if you wish! You can learn everything with our app and learning platform included.
